This classic trek takes you around the magnificent Annapurna mountain range and across the famous Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, one of the highest trekking passes in the world.

The Annapurna Circuit traditionally follows the Marsyangdi River valley and crosses from the Manang region into the Mustang region before reaching the Kali Gandaki Valley. Along the way, trekkers experience dramatic changes in landscapes, from lush green valleys and subtropical forests to high-altitude deserts and the Tibetan-influenced landscapes of Mustang.

During the Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days, you will explore fascinating Himalayan villages such as Manang, Braka, Pisang, and Jomsom, where you can experience traditional lifestyles, local cuisine, Buddhist monasteries, temples, and unique mountain cultures. Important cultural and religious attractions such as Muktinath Temple, Braka Monastery, and Pisang Monastery add a spiritual dimension to this spectacular journey.

The trek also provides breathtaking views of some of Nepal’s most impressive mountains, including Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, and Thorong Peak. As you gradually ascend from the lower valleys toward Thorong La Pass, the scenery and culture continuously change, making the journey remarkably diverse.

Normally, the Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days begins in Kathmandu and ends in Pokhara, combining an exciting Himalayan trekking experience with the opportunity to explore the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. This itinerary is ideal for trekkers who want to experience the highlights of the Annapurna Circuit within a limited timeframe.

Difficulty of Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days

The Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days is considered a moderately challenging trek because it reaches an altitude of 5,416 meters at Thorong La Pass. The high altitude, long walking days, steep ascents and descents, and changing weather conditions make this trek more demanding than many lower-altitude treks in Nepal.

Trekkers should have a good level of physical fitness and be comfortable walking for around 6 to 7 hours per day. Regular hiking or cardio training before the trek can help you prepare for the long walking days.

Proper acclimatization is essential, especially before crossing Thorong La Pass. Trekking with an experienced guide and porter can make the journey safer and more comfortable. Trekkers should also carry essential items such as water, a windproof jacket, warm clothing, and proper trekking shoes.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days Cost

The typical cost of the Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days is approximately USD 700–800 per person. The final price can vary depending on the group size, transportation, accommodation, meals, permits, and whether you choose local transportation or a private jeep.

Trekkers should carry some Nepali cash during the trek because ATMs and card payment facilities may not be available in some remote villages. Cash is useful for personal expenses, snacks, drinks, hot showers, charging electronic devices, and other additional services.

Trekking: 3–4 hours

After breakfast, you will take a sharing or private jeep from Besisahar toward Dharapani, situated at approximately 2,250 meters. The road passes through beautiful valleys and mountain villages alongside the Marsyangdi River.

From Dharapani, your trek begins. You will walk through beautiful forests and mountain landscapes toward Chame, the administrative center of Manang District. The trek takes approximately 3–4 hours depending on your pace.

Distance: Approximately 14 km
Trekking: 5–6 hours

Today, you will trek from Chame to Pisang, following the Marsyangdi River through beautiful forests, valleys, and spectacular mountain scenery.

The trail gradually gains altitude as you walk through changing landscapes. Along the way, you can enjoy impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the Annapurna region.

After approximately 5–6 hours of walking, you will reach Pisang and spend the night there.

Distance: Approximately 15–20 km
Trekking: 6–8 hours

Today is one of the most scenic days of the Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days. You will trek from Pisang toward Manang, a famous Himalayan village known for its unique culture, traditional architecture, Buddhist monasteries, and spectacular mountain views.

There are two main routes between Pisang and Manang. The upper route through the villages of Ghyaru and Ngawal offers particularly impressive views of the Annapurna range, although it is more challenging than the lower route.

After several hours of trekking, you will arrive in Manang and spend the night at approximately 3,450 meters.

Today is an important acclimatization day in Manang. Spending an additional night at this altitude gives your body more time to adapt before ascending toward Thorong La Pass.

You can take a short hike to a higher elevation during the day and then return to Manang to sleep. Depending on your fitness and health condition, your guide may recommend places such as Chongkor Viewpoint or Ice Lake.

The acclimatization hike should be done at a comfortable pace, and your guide will help you decide the most suitable option.

Distance: Approximately 9–11 km
Trekking: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, you will leave Manang and gradually enter the higher-altitude section of the Annapurna Circuit. The trail passes through beautiful mountain landscapes and small settlements before reaching Churi Ledar, at approximately 4,200 meters.

Because you are now at high altitude, it is important to maintain a slow and steady pace, drink enough water, and follow your guide’s recommendations.

You will spend the night in a local teahouse and prepare for the challenging days ahead.

Distance: Approximately 6–8 km
Trekking: 3–5 hours

Today, you will continue toward Thorong Phedi (approximately 4,450 m) or Thorong High Camp (approximately 4,800 m), depending on the conditions, accommodation availability, and your group’s health and acclimatization.

The trail becomes more rugged as you climb higher. From the route, you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Your guide will determine whether it is better to stay at Thorong Phedi or continue to High Camp based on weather, trail conditions, and the group’s condition.

Trekking: Approximately 8–10 hours

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the Annapurna Circuit Trek 9 Days. You will wake early, usually around 4:00 a.m., and begin your ascent toward Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters.

The trail becomes steeper as you approach the pass, and the high altitude makes the climb physically demanding. With a slow and steady pace, you will eventually reach Thorong La Pass and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

After celebrating the successful crossing of the pass, you will descend toward Muktinath, an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

The total journey from Thorong High Camp to Muktinath can take approximately 8–10 hours depending on weather, trail conditions, and your walking pace.

Driving: Approximately 8–10 hours

After breakfast, you will leave Muktinath by local bus or private jeep and drive toward Pokhara, the beautiful lakeside city of Nepal.
